Hyland’s-Sponsored Water Polo Teams Heading for Medals

Who would have thought a year ago that Hyland's would be associated with Olympic-medal winning teams? Yet here we are, anxiously watching the USA National men's and women's teams, endorsers of our Earache Drops, poised to win medals in the 2008 Summer Olympics!

The USA men's water polo team, which has not reached a medal round at the Olympics since 1992, defeated Germany late Monday night in an exciting 8-7 victory, winning their group and advancing to the semi-finals! A win for the men in the semi-finals will ensure the team its first medal since 1988. The team's next match is scheduled for Friday (8/22) at 7:40/4:40 a.m. ET/PT. At that time, Team USA will face the Serbian team, which won its quarterfinal match against Spain last night.

Women's water polo was added for the first time as an Olympic event in 2000. That year, the USA women's team won the Silver medal in a game against Australia in Sydney. In 2004, in Athens, the women's team won the Bronze, again defeating Australia. This year, by virtue of the women's team winning its Group A, the women's team faced off once again against Australia in the semi-finals last night. Team USA defeated Australia (9-8) and will now advance to the Gold medal match against the Netherlands. This match will take place at 6:20/3:20 a.m. ET/PT on Thursday, 8/21. While the Women's team is assured a medal, we're certainly rooting for the team's first Gold!!
