Are these medicines herbal?
No, while many homeopathic medicines are derived from plants and even herbs, their processing and highly defined principles of application are unique to homeopathic medicines.
Who can take them?
Hyland’s Cell Salts are intended for children 2–6 years old and adults and children over 7 years old. Please see the individual label for dosage instructions.
For younger children, do tablets need to be placed under the tongue?
Many parents have success putting the tablets under the child’s tongue or just inside the cheek, where the soft tablets dissolve instantly. Alternatively, you can crush the tablets between two spoons or dissolve them in a teaspoonful of water before dosing.
Should I keep dosing until the bottle runs out?
In general, it is best to stop dosing when you feel a marked improvement or change, even if after only one dose. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days or worsen, contact your licensed health care provider.
Will Homeopathic medicines interact with other medications I'm taking?
In general, because the ingredients in homeopathic remedies are in small amounts they do not have any drug interactions. However, if you are concerned about using a homeopathic remedy with other prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) drugs that you are taking, we recommend that you speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
What if I am lactose intolerant or am sensitive to milk?
All our tablets contain pure Lactose N.F. (National Formulary), which is without casein, whey or the other milk proteins which are usually the triggers in reactions to dairy products. Most people are able to use our products as the amount of this pure lactose is relatively small. If your physician has determined that you are specifically “Allergic to Lactose”, you should avoid our tablets. If you are very concerned, seek the advice of a licensed health care professional before using this product.
What role does the FDA have in homeopathy?
Two organizations are involved in the manufacture and regulation of homeopathic medicines: the FDA and the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS). HPUS establishes the tests and production methods for each remedy it approves. The FDA uses HPUS monographs plus the same rules and regulations it applies to other forms of medicine to oversee and scrutinize homeopathic manufacturing, production and labeling. The claims for our homeopathic products are based on traditional homeopathic practice. They have not been reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration. Homeopathic medicines are not herbs or supplements, and they have been recognized by the FDA as drugs since 1938.
Do your products have an expiration date?
Homeopathic medicines are good for a very long time as they are very stable when stored under normal conditions (away from moisture and excessive heat or cold). For this reason the FDA has exempted homeopathic manufacturers from posting expiration dates on the product.
